Not Just Another Day Off

What may sound like just another day off will turn out to be a life changing day for Dana and Toni. For Toni, this is the day they pick up the new dining room suit. For Dana this is a day of study and career development.

The china cabinet

While she was looking for a smaller set, the only thing that was smaller was the width of the china cabinet, and the new set comes with an additional piece, a buffet that we will put in the bedroom. Dana says it will be there until we expand the kitchen area. Toni laughs. More . . .

The web page

For Dana, this page is the project for the day. The goal is to build a web site in a day. He starts by giving it a title, August 16. Then he begins the work of creating a banner in Photoshop CS2. Next the page is divided into frames.

The theory is that a web developer must be productive in order to be successful. The awesome looking sites are cool, but being able to produce is what puts bread on the table. Well, not literally, as we don't eat much bread. The challenge is blending this web development in with the furniture moving and associated preparation and cleaning.

He did have to do some preparation. Using Photoshop CS, he had to create a banner with some simple text and some effects. Also, as a part of the project, he used one of the cat photos, added fade to background. and included it in the banner.

Just below the Banner title, he added a line of external links, and then in the navigation frame, a list of internal links. A second page was also added expanding the china cabinet story in the content frame.

For a few hours work, it was a fair accomplishment, and excellent practice. Although, more skills need to be developed. But he has to prepare some cat pictures for the web.

Cat Pictures

Dana took several new pictures of the felines at UTHCT. As a member of the Campus Cat Coalition, Dana has been taking pictures of the cats in the feral colony there. The Campus Cat Coalition is ....
