While she was looking for a smaller set, the only thing that was smaller was the width of the china cabinet, and the new set comes with an additional piece, a buffet that we will put in the bedroom. Dana says it will be there until we expand the kitchen area. Toni laughs.
Moving furniture is like any other tragedy. It brings family members together. For this move, we recruited our nephews to help us move our present dining furniture into the garage and the new furniture into the dining room.
Not surprisingly, it went smoothly. I picked up the boys at 5:00 and some KFC shortly thereafter. We started moving the stuff at 6:00 and at 7:00 we were done.
It's strange that furnishings always seem to just fit through the doorways. Yes, we had to use multiple doorways for some of it. We put part of the item in one doorway in order to be able to turn it enough to go through the other doorway. "Just fit" wasn't the phrase I heard though. Either it's too small or it's a perfect fit. Awesome optimism.
There's something strange about antique furnishings. For some reason, there is a lot of value in furnishings that are extremely old.
There's the shine. There' the look of good solid wood. Yes, it felt like solid wood when we moved it. And, of course, there's the decorative detail.
